Using the term "partner"

Is this term appropriate? When using the term “partner” to describe a relationship with a third party, please ensure that:

We have a written agreement outlining roles and responsibilities.

We are sharing administrative, research and development responsibilities in our work together and are jointly responsible for the outcome of the endeavor (e.g. co-publish the paper, co-develop the education content or program, etc.).

The project supports Stanford’s educational and research mission and is not commercial in nature.

The relationship is not based on the third party’s role as a donor, research funder, program sponsor, licensee, vendor, consultant, or member of Stanford’s Industrial Affiliates Programs.
